The ITU Journal on Future and Evolving Technologies (ITU J-FET) is accepting papers about 5G and 6G, security and privacy, and the Internet of Things (IoT) for a special edition about next-generation computer communications and networks.

Researchers can submit their articles using this link until October 31, 2023.

According to the publication, the special issue will examine various complementary aspects of cutting-edge trends and creative approaches in communications and network research.

The goal is to showcase selected driving technologies, methods, and principles that will support the development of the next generation of interconnected communication systems and facilitate their integration into smart society, industry, and economy.

The journal highlighted six keywords: Wireless networks, 5G/6G, security, Internet of Things, cloud computing, and vehicular networks.

“The rapid expansion and transformation of the communication and networking industries require creative solutions to ensure efficient performance and the delivery of advanced services to users,” the journal explained in a blog post.

“These solutions can include network optimisation, effective data management, cognitive computing, block-chain solutions, and unconventional hardware and software design and implementation.”

This special issue invites submissions that tackle the previously mentioned challenges, focusing on combining creative techniques with state-of-the-art system applications. Papers with hands-on implementations and real-world evaluations are highly encouraged, the journal said.

The publication also invites proposals that examine new and innovative communication and networking scenarios and applications as long as they go beyond simply presenting an initial concept.
