6G in 2024 – What to Look For & Why

2023 highlighted some of the disparities between stakeholders and their different concepts of what 6G can or should be – a source of societal and economic growth (governments); a set of revolutionary new capabilities and services (R&D); or a gradual set of inexpensive upgrades from 5G (Operators). At the same time, it’s still unclear what end-users would want enough to pay for.

2024 is a year to work through these issues before we go too far through consensus and standardisation, so that we can deliver not just technologies but services and business models that deliver for end users and, as a result, everyone else in the industry supplying them.

So what does 2024 hold for the industry? What issues and activities can or should we see on the agenda to be confident things are going in the right direction?
